Mystical Fairy Tale

For this series, I pulled everything together at the last minute. After wrapping up a shoot, I was inspired by an idea I had been mulling over for a while: to immerse someone in a 1950s cartoon world. When the model stood in front of my camera, I asked her to imagine she was in a fairy tale, fleeing from the Big Bad Wolf.

Once I had the photos, I began crafting the fairy tale backdrop. I needed to create various elements and blend them seamlessly to form the perfect setting. After overlaying the model onto the background, I added subtle effects to ground her in the scene. For the rain shots, overlayed the background on the translucent coat that allowed elements of the background to show through, creating a soft blur that mimics how our eyes perceive things.

I also incorporated reflections in the water and added ripples, intentionally making these reflections more cartoonish than realistic to emphasize the whimsical nature of the world. In the nighttime rain scene, I created glowing eyes of wolves lurking in the shadows to convey the story I had in mind. I introduced orbs of light that danced on the water's surface, and I painted colorful light kisses on the model's skin to create the illusion of vibrant illumination. Finally, I added more ripples and reflections to ensure the model felt truly integrated into this fantastical realm.
